This is the current list of blogs I’m subscribed to. I don’t necessarily agree with them all, but I do enjoy reading a lot of them. Some of them are 5050 and if they ride the fence much longer, I might delete them. I also edited one for bad language.

Dell's Customer Service

Published on:

[]1 has blown me away with their customer service… really. They took the initiative to tell me why it was going to take a month to build my Dell Mini 9, which was due to industrial delays in getting the LCD’s and keyboards in stock.

They called me today to tell me that they started building my laptop today and should ship out at the latest by COB Tuesday.

I’m excited about my mini and floored by their wonderful customer service.

Good Job Dell. I appreciate it.

Ubuntu + Studio + Netbook Remix

I have decided that when I get my Dell Mini 9, I’m going to reload a stock Ubuntu. Then, I’m going to install Ubuntu Studio on top of it to get all the nice Ubuntu Studio apps. After that, I’m going to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix to make the screen more usable. I might have some issues with Compiz, so I’m thinking about removing it first. I’ll be sure to post the results.

I did play with the Ubuntu 9.04 beta Netbook Remix on my current laptop this weekend. It wasn’t bad, but it started acting funny after about 10 minutes, as launcher became extremely slow. It is definitely still beta — I might go as far as to say that it is still apha quality. I also ran it off the USB stick, so it might be fine after you install it to the hard drive.

Dell Mini 9

I ordered a Dell Mini 9 on sale yesterday for $199. It is scheduled to be delivered the day before the new Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope is scheduled to be released. I’m pretty excited about it and I’m pretty sure I’ll be installing the new Ubuntu as soon as I can.

Stay Tuned.
